INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Dice the onion, green bell pepper, and pickled jalapeños.
  2. Measure out the white rice, water, vegetable broth, and canned diced tomatoes.
  3. Gather the remaining ingredients: butter or vegan margarine, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. In a 4-quart slow cooker, add the uncooked white rice.
  5. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, canned diced tomatoes, and pickled jalapeños to the slow cooker.
  6. Sprinkle the chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper over the ingredients.
  7. Pour in the water and vegetable broth to ensure even distribution of flavors.
  8. Place the butter or vegan margarine on top.
  9. Gently stir all the ingredients in the slow cooker to evenly distribute the spices and vegetables.
