  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it is reduced by half, which should take about 3 hours.
  6. Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool for 15 minutes.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and purée it until smooth.
