INGREDIENTS

For the Crisco Plain Paste (Pie Crust):

  • Prepared Crisco Plain Paste for a double-crust pie

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Crisco (vegetable shortening)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Grated rind of 1/2 lemon

 

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • Use Crisco Plain Paste for the pie crust. You can prepare a double-crust pie using this pastry.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of pared and sliced apples.
  3. Add Sugar and Spices:
    • Add 1/2 cup of sugar to the apples.
    • Add 1/8 teaspoon of salt.
    • Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon over the mixture.
  4. Add Lemon Flavor:
    • Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon to obtain 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
    • Grate the rind of 1/2 lemon to add lemon zest.
  5. Mix the Filling:
    • Gently mix the sugar, salt, cinnamon, lemon juice, and lemon zest with the sliced apples until well combined.
  6. Prepare the Pie:
    • Roll out one portion of the prepared Crisco Plain Paste and line a pie tin with it.
  7. Add the Filling:
    • Transfer the apple filling into the pie crust-lined tin, spreading it evenly.
  8. Dot with Crisco:
    • Dot the apple filling with 1 tablespoon of Crisco (vegetable shortening).
  9. Cover with Crust:
    • Roll out the second portion of the pie crust and cover the apple filling with it.
    • Seal and crimp the edges of the pie crust to enclose the filling.
  10. Bake:
    • Bake the Apple Pie in a preheated oven at the recommended temperature until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
