Whereas many spiced nuts feature a light candylike coating of sugar, ours have a unique crumbly/crunchy texture thanks to the mixture of
brown sugar and butter that melts together during baking and helps the spices adhere to the nuts. Use these as an ice cream topping, for
snacking, and in just about any recipe that calls for nuts.

SHELF LIFE: 1 week

YIELD: 2cups

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¼ cup (2 ounces) unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1½ teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 cups pecan pieces

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and position a rack in the center of the oven.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, vanilla extract, kosher salt, and cloves until well combined.
  3. Add pecan pieces to the bowl and toss until they are evenly coated in the butter mixture.
  4. Transfer the coated pecans to a rimmed baking sheet and spread them out in a single layer.
  5. Bake for 6 minutes, stir the pecans, and bake for another 6 to 9 minutes, or until fragrant and golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet, stirring occasionally to break up any clumps that may have formed.
  7. Once cooled, store the spiced pecans in an airtight container. Enjoy as a snack or use as a topping for salads, desserts, or other dishes
