Want more vanilla flavor? Scrape the seeds from half a vanilla bean into the mixture with the rest of the ingredients. It won’t be steeped, but it will offer a subtle flavor pop and increased aroma.

INGREDIENTS: YIELD: 1 QUART

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 2 cups plain whole-milk yogurt
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vanilla Beans

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor, and blend until smooth.
  2. Add to ice cream maker and follow manufacturer’s instructions for freezing.

 

VANILLA BEANS:

  • Vanilla beans are native to Mexico and South America, and are part of the orchid family, Orchidaceae. While Mexican vanilla is still widely popular, the most common is bourbon vanilla, also labeled as Madagascar vanilla, grown along the Indian Ocean.
