Transform plain ol’ green beans into a delicious side dish by smothering them in a simple tahini sauce. This recipe comes together with just five main ingredients and in less than 15 minutes. We love this dish on the side of just about anything, but especially our Fettuccine Alfredo or Easy Creamy Mac and Cheese.

Tahini Green Beans is a delightful side dish that combines the nutty richness of tahini with the fresh, crisp taste of green beans. This dish is not only delicious but also easy to prepare, making it a perfect addition to your weeknight meals or special occasions.

The star of this recipe is tahini, a creamy paste made from ground sesame seeds. It adds a unique and slightly nutty flavor to the green beans while providing a creamy texture without the need for dairy or heavy sauces.

The tahini sauce is complemented by other simple yet flavorful ingredients like lemon juice, maple syrup, and a touch of black pepper. These ingredients create a harmonious balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors that make the green beans truly pop.

Green beans, sautéed to crisp-tender perfection, provide a satisfying crunch and a burst of vibrant color to the dish. Their natural freshness pairs wonderfully with the rich tahini sauce.

Tahini Green Beans are not only a delicious side dish but also a nutritious one. Green beans are a great source of vitamins and fiber, while tahini adds healthy fats and a dose of protein to the meal.

This recipe is versatile and can be adjusted to suit your preferences. You can experiment with different seasonings or even add some toasted sesame seeds for extra crunch and flavor.

Whether served as a side dish for a family dinner or as part of a larger spread for entertaining, Tahini Green Beans are sure to impress with their unique flavors and delightful textures.

PREP TIME: 5 minutes

COOK TIME: 5 to 7 minutes

YIELD: 4 to 6 servings

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/4 cup (60 g) tahini
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) olive oil
  • 3 cups (330 g) green beans

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the tahini, water, lemon juice, maple syrup, salt, and pepper. Set this tahini mixture aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large wok over medium-high heat. If you don’t have a wok, you can use a large skillet.
  3. Add the green beans to the heated wok and sauté them, stirring constantly, for about 5 to 7 minutes. You want the green beans to become crisp-tender and slightly cooked but still vibrant green.
  4. Once the green beans are cooked to your liking, remove the wok from the heat.
  5. Stir in the tahini mixture until the green beans are evenly coated with this flavorful sauce.
  6. Serve your Tahini Green Beans immediately as a delicious side dish. Enjoy!
