INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 large cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger, or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 3 to 4 pounds boneless country style pork ribs
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion, with green
PREPARATION
- In a large bowl, combine the first nine ingredients. Add the ribs and turn to coat. Place the onion in the bottom of the slow cooker and arrange the ribs on top.
- Cover and cook on low for 5 to 7 hours.
- To thicken the sauce, pour the liquids into a saucepan (strain through a mesh sieve if you want a fairly clear sauce) and boil for about 5 minutes. Combine 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and blend well.
- Stir the cornstarch mixture into the liquids and cook, stirring, until thickened.
- Place the ribs on a serving platter, drizzle with the sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onion.
- This recipe makes 6 servings
