QUICK HORCHATA WITH BANANA

Horchata is a Mexican drink consisting of raw long-grain white rice, water, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla. Traditionally a time-intensive recipe that calls for soaking the ingredients for a few hours, this shortcut version takes mere minutes, thanks to rice milk. Bananas add creaminess

MAKES: 3 1/2 CUPS (ABOUT 3 SERVINGS)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups plain unsweetened rice milk
  • 2 large ripe bananas
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored protein powder (such as pea or rice)
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 ice cubes

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  3. Serve immediately over ice
