INGREDIENTS:
- 1 large ripe Hass avocado, halved, seeded, and peeled
- ¼ cup diced ripe tomato
- ¼ cup finely chopped red onion
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped stemmed and seeded jalapeño chile (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Coarsely mash the avocado with a fork or potato masher in a medium bowl. Do not overmash; the texture should be quite lumpy.
- Stir in the tomato, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño (if using), ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper.
- Taste and adjust the seasonings.
- Serve immediately
