INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 large ripe Hass avocado, halved, seeded, and peeled
  • ¼ cup diced ripe tomato
  • ¼ cup finely chopped red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 teaspoons finely chopped stemmed and seeded jalapeño chile (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Coarsely mash the avocado with a fork or potato masher in a medium bowl. Do not overmash; the texture should be quite lumpy.
  2. Stir in the tomato, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño (if using), ½ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper.
  3. Taste and adjust the seasonings.
  4. Serve immediately
