Matcha is ground high-grade Japanese green tea with a floral and grassy flavor. This latte is velvety, sweet, and a gorgeous springy green hue. I highly recommend the Aerolatte milk frother, which costs about twenty dollars, for homemade lattes.
MAKES: 1 SERVING
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 teaspoons strained matcha (1 teaspoon for a milder cup)
- 2 tablespoons very hot water
- 1 cup plain unsweetened cashew milk
- 1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon agave nectar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS:
- WHISK together the matcha with the very hot water until mostly smooth (a few tiny lumps will remain).
- Meanwhile, heat the cashew milk in a 12-ounce mug in the microwave or in a small saucepan on the stovetop until very hot.
- SCRAPE the matcha mixture into the hot cashew milk.
- Add the agave nectar and vanilla.
- Froth with an Aerolatte or other handheld battery-powered milk frother until very frothy.
- Serve immediately.
