I love to prepare this citrusy tea for my sons when they’re sick. For a less sweet drink, reduce the syrup.

MAKES ABOUT: 1 3/4 CUPS (2 TO 3 SERVINGS)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups plain unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger
  • thinly sliced Zest of 1 lemon (yellow part only, no white pith)
  • 1 green tea sachet or bag (caffeinated or decaffeinated)

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over high heat.
  3. Turn off the heat and let sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Strain into a 2-cup or larger liquid measuring cup with a spout.
  5. Pour into cups, and serve.
