Gluten-free, Nut-free, Soy-free

This recipe may seem really simple (which it is!), but it’s the perfect recipe to have in your back pocket for when you’re looking for a veggie to round out a meal. This recipe is great paired with our Easy Creamy Mac and Cheese, Orange Tofu or Creamy Tomato Pasta.

Easy Steamed Broccoli is a simple yet nutritious side dish that can complement a variety of meals. This preparation method helps retain the natural flavors and nutrients of broccoli while keeping it tender and vibrant.

To prepare Easy Steamed Broccoli, start by trimming the broccoli into manageable florets. You can also peel and chop the broccoli stems if you prefer to use them.

Next, you’ll need a steamer basket and a pot with about an inch of water. Place the steamer basket in the pot, making sure the water level is below the basket. If you don’t have a steamer basket, you can use a microwave-safe bowl with a lid.

If you’re steaming on the stovetop, cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, add the broccoli florets to the steamer basket. You can sprinkle a pinch of salt over the broccoli if desired. Steam the broccoli for about 3-5 minutes, or until it becomes bright green and is tender when pierced with a fork. Be careful not to overcook; you want the broccoli to remain slightly crisp.

If you prefer to use the microwave, cover the bowl with a microwave-safe lid or microwave-safe plate. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes, checking for doneness after each minute. Microwave times may vary, so adjust accordingly.

Once the broccoli is steamed to your preferred level of tenderness, remove it from the heat source. You can serve it immediately as a side dish, drizzle it with a bit of olive oil, sprinkle with lemon juice, or add your favorite seasonings for extra flavor.

Easy Steamed Broccoli is not only quick to make but also packed with essential vitamins and minerals. It’s a versatile addition to your meal repertoire, and you can customize it to suit your taste preferences, whether you prefer it plain or with added seasonings.
