- 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp vegetable or olive oil
- 2/3 cups (300ml) lukewarm water, as needed
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, stir together the bread flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar.
- Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the vegetable or olive oil.
- Gradually add lukewarm water as needed while stirring to form a soft dough.
- Knead and Rise: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface.
- Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Shape the dough into a ball.
- Place the dough in a large oiled bowl, turning it to coat.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow it to rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour or until it doubles in volume.
- Prepare the Loaf: Oil and flour the inside of a 9 x 5-inch (23 x 13cm) loaf pan, tapping out any excess flour.
- Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a rough rectangle that fits the pan.
- Place the shaped dough into the prepared loaf pan.
- Cover the pan with plastic wrap and let it stand for about 30 minutes, or until it almost doubles in volume.
- Bake the Loaf: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
