Served after a decadent evening meal, this ice cream combines both dessert and an after-dinner cup of coffee. For an extra shot of flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of Baileys Irish Cream or Kahlua just before freezing.
YIELD: 1 QUART
INGREDIENTS :
- 1½ cups sweetened condensed milk
- ¼ cup milk
- ⅓ cup heavy cream
- 1¼ cups very strong brewed coffee
- Pinch coffee grounds
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl, then chill 5–8 hours, or overnight.
- Once chilled, add to ice cream maker and follow manufacturer’s instructions for freezing.
FLAVORS AWAIT:
- Thanks to the abundance of flavored coffees that are readily available, this ice cream recipe is easily changed simply by using different coffee flavors. One particularly nice choice is hazelnut coffee, which can be found in most groceries.
