Need a reason to eat more of this mouthwatering sorbet? Consider that blackberries are high in fiber and are believed to remedy many stomach ailments. They also contain vitamin E, which helps promote a healthy heart.

INGREDIENTS: YIELD: 1 QUART

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Wash the berries and combine with the water, sugar, and lemon juice in large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stirring occasionally, cook the berries until soft and liquidized, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, and cool to room temperature.
  3. Place berries in blender or food processor, and purée until smooth. Press through a strainer to remove seeds, if desired. Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
  4. Add to ice cream maker and follow manufacturer’s instructions for freezing
