INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 4 slices pepperoni sausages (or any salami made from cured pork and beef mixed together)
- 3 slices smoked bacon
- 1 medium chili pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a frying pan, brown the 3 slices of bacon and pepperoni sausages until they are crisp.
- Remove the bacon and pepperoni from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to cool. Keep the remaining grease in the pan for later use.
- Dice the chili pepper into small pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, diced chili pepper, dried basil, onion powder, and garlic powder. Add the bacon grease from the pan and mix everything together until a solid mixture is formed. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Crumble the bacon and pepperoni slices and set them on a separate plate.
- Using your hands, roll the cream cheese mixture into balls, then roll each ball in the crumbled bacon or pepperoni to coat them.
- Arrange the coated cream cheese balls on a serving platter.
- Refrigerate the cream cheese balls for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up and the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the bacon and pepperoni cream cheese balls as a flavorful and savory appetizer or snack.
