A fancy sauce is a terrific way to dress up all sorts of desserts. Serve this cherry-vodka
blend warm over crêpes with a bit of mascarpone cheese or cold over ice cream.

about 2 cups
INGREDIENTS:
- 2¼ cups thawed frozen or canned sour cherries in juice
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- ¼ cup vodka
- 1 tsp vanilla
DIRECTIONS:
- Reserving juice, drain cherries.
- In saucepan, bring cherries, ¼ cup of the cherry juice, sugar and lemon juice to boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer until reduced to 1¾ cups, 12 to 15 minutes.
- Stir in vodka and vanilla.
- Let cool slightly before serving. (Make-ahead: Refrigerate in airtight container for up to 5 days. Reheat before using, if desired.)
