- 1 cup of whipped cream (for the classic version) OR
- 5 egg yolks and 1/2 cup of thin cream (if whipping cream is unavailable)
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples, diced celery, blanched and shredded almonds, and rolled pecan nut meats. Toss them together to evenly distribute the ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, prepare the dressing. Start by melting 1 tablespoon of Crisco and then adding 1 teaspoon each of mustard, white sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Mix these ingredients well.
- Slowly beat in the 4 tablespoons of lemon juice into the dressing mixture. This creates a tangy and flavorful dressing base.
