INGREDIENTS:
- 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
- 3 cups water
- 3 tablespoons vinegar
- 3 tablespoons minced canned jalapeño slices
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon minced onion
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- Dash garlic powder
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the tomato paste and water. Whisk until smooth.
- Add the vinegar, minced jalapeño slices, chili powder, minced onion, salt, cornstarch, cayenne pepper, sugar, onion powder, and garlic powder to the saucepan. Stir until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Heat the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir the sauce frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Once the sauce reaches a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 3 minutes, continuing to stir occasionally.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool.
- Once cooled, transfer the sauce to a sealed container and refrigerate. The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
