Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 18–20 minutes
Total Time: 33–35 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

For the Batter:

  • ½ cup flour, plus 2 tablespoons
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1½ teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ cup beer, plus 2 tablespoons
  • 12-ounce package frozen crawfish tail meat, thawed and drained
  • Oil for misting or cooking spray

For the Coating:

  • 1½ cups panko crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a large bowl, combine ½ cup of flour, garlic powder, 1½ teaspoons of Old Bay Seasoning, and onion powder. Stir in the beer to create a smooth batter.
  2. Add the thawed and drained crawfish tail meat to the batter. Stir gently to ensure each piece is coated evenly.
  3. In a food processor, combine the ingredients for the coating—panko crumbs, 1 teaspoon of Old Bay Seasoning, and ground black pepper. Pulse until the crumbs are finely crushed. Transfer the crumbs to a shallow dish.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F.
  5. Place the crawfish and batter into a colander to allow excess batter to drain. Use a spoon to gently stir and encourage draining.
  6. Take a handful of crawfish at a time and roll them in the seasoned panko crumbs. Place the coated crawfish on a cookie sheet, allowing smaller pieces to stick together if needed.
  7. Spray the breaded crawfish with oil or cooking spray to promote crispiness. Transfer the coated crawfish into the air fryer basket all at once.
  8. Cook the crawfish in the air fryer at 390°F for 5 minutes. After the initial cooking time, shake the basket or stir the crawfish gently. Mist them with olive oil or cooking spray once more. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then shake the basket again and give a light mist. Continue cooking for 3 to 5 more minutes, or until the crawfish are beautifully browned and perfectly crispy.
