This is a classic tart, sweetened with maple syrup and honey. This is a great alternative to pecan pie at Thanksgiving. For chocolate lovers, add 1/2 cup chocolate chips when you add the chopped nuts.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 partially baked, 9 inch Tart Dough
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Melt butter and set aside to cool.
  3. Coarsely chop 1 cup of the nuts. Reserve Vi cup nuts to decorate the top of the tart.
  4. Beat eggs. Add maple syrup, honey, vanilla, salt, and cooled butter. Beat until smooth. Stir in chopped nuts.
  5. Pour mixture into partially baked shell.
  6. Arrange pecan halves on top.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until just set, not dry.
