Five Spice Glazed Salmon with Sesame Green Beans is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines the richness of salmon with the crunchiness of green beans. To start, prepare the marinade for the salmon by whisking together honey, soy sauce, five-spice powder, and minced garlic in a small bowl. Place the salmon fillets, skin side down, on a plate and pour the marinade over them. Flip the fillets so they are skin side up and let them marinate for 15 minutes at room temperature. This allows the flavors to infuse into the fish. Meanwhile, preheat the broiler and line a baking sheet with foil, then coat it with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, toss the trimmed green beans with canola oil and Asian sesame oil. Arrange the green beans on one-half of the prepared baking sheet and season them with salt and pepper. Place the marinated salmon fillets, skin side down, on the other half of the baking sheet. Brush the salmon with any remaining marinade. Broil the salmon and green beans for a few minutes, making sure to toss the green beans once during cooking to ensure even browning. The salmon should be cooked until just done, and the green beans should be crisp-tender. Be careful not to overcook the salmon as it can become dry. Once cooked, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Toss the green beans with toasted sesame seeds and a squeeze of lemon juice for added freshness and flavor. Serve the Five Spice Glazed Salmon alongside the sesame green beans for a delightful and satisfying meal.
This dish offers a harmonious blend of sweet, savory, and slightly spicy flavors from the glaze, complemented by the nuttiness of the sesame seeds and the crispness of the green beans. It’s a perfect choice for seafood lovers and those seeking a healthy and flavorful meal.
