This is a classic tart, sweetened with maple syrup and honey. This is a great alternative to pecan pie at Thanksgiving. For chocolate lovers, add 1/2 cup chocolate chips when you add the chopped nuts.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 partially baked, 9 inch Tart Dough
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Melt butter and set aside to cool.
- Coarsely chop 1 cup of the nuts. Reserve Vi cup nuts to decorate the top of the tart.
- Beat eggs. Add maple syrup, honey, vanilla, salt, and cooled butter. Beat until smooth. Stir in chopped nuts.
- Pour mixture into partially baked shell.
- Arrange pecan halves on top.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until just set, not dry.
