2. Season the Scallops:

  • Season both sides of each scallop with a generous pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Seasoning enhances their natural flavor.

3. Heat the Pan:

  • Place a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the vegetable oil or clarified butter and heat until it shimmers. The pan should be hot, but not smoking.

4. Searing the Scallops:
