    • In a stewpan, melt 4 tablespoons of Crisco over medium heat.
    • Add the diced turnips to the melted Crisco.
    • Stir the turnips over a quick fire for a few minutes.
  3. Add Flour and Stock:
    • Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the sautéed turnips.
    • Add 1 tablespoon of flour and stir to coat the turnips evenly.
    • Pour in 3 pints of stock (vegetable or chicken) and mix well.
  4. Simmer the Soup:
    • Allow the soup to simmer gently for approximately 1.5 hours. This will soften the turnips and allow their flavors to meld with the stock.
  5. Blend and Strain:
    • After simmering, pass the entire mixture through a sieve or use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth.

    • Return the pureed soup to the stewpan.

  7. Finish with Cream:
    • Just before serving, pour in 1 cup of good cream and stir well.
