Yum! Bubble gum ice cream is like two treats in one. If you prefer not to mix in the gumball bits, feel free to omit them for a less chewy finish.

 

INGREDIENTS:  YIELD: 1 QUART

  • 4 ounces bubble gum
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1¾ cups sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup small gumballs, roughly crushed

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat bubble gum, half and half, and sugar in medium saucepan until just boiling. Remove from heat. Cover and let steep for 2 hours.
  2. After 2 hours, remove bubble gum. Add cream, salt, and vanilla. Refrigerate 4 hours to overnight.
  3. Add to ice cream maker and follow manufacturer’s instructions for freezing. Just before storing, fold in gumballs.
